Hi, planning a road trip form Kanpur to Panchmarhi, a hill station in MP around 700 km from Kanpur, and then trekking there for 5 days. Dates flexible. I invite everyone esp. students with their summer holidays to join me. you may even reach there directly if you want to avoid road. :) I have some experience in trekking this haven and first timers will love this trip!

I WANT TO KNOW THAT WHEN WILL THE NEW TREK START?
Sorry if this sounds a bit naive, but is trekking only about exotic mountains? Are there any closer home (NCR) treks that don?t require a long leave from work? Say, an over-the-weekend thingi??
Best time of the year to trek - scant rains, high altitude meadows thick with grass & myriad flowes - prime time for bakerwals (shephards) to graze their flocks on high. In the photograph is the ripple free lake as the backdrop to the prettiest classroom in the world as the bakkarwal children get ready for their lessons. It's a 4 days trek from Aaru, Pahalgam through the picturesque Lidder Valley. Climb is from approx 6000 ft to 14000 ft
This is one of the most scenic and exciting treks of J&K. This follows the migration route of the Bakkarwals (Nomadic Shepherds) from the Poonch-Rajouri Sector into the Kashmir Valley.

Looking here i get an idea that most of the trekkers , especially from outside india are not aware of the beautiful trek of sandakphu-falut...which is a 7day 8 night tour from kolkata...and involves 4-5 days of trekking. It gives u exposure to forest (Singalila National forest), snow, panoramic view of peaks (some of the highest in world). -Babu Chand
Before starting the trek there were a lot of apprehensions about trekking shoes. We had decided on woodland shoes but some doubts were expressed about that too. We stuck on to our decision and bought Woodland Article No- G-40777. It was priced at Rs 2100 but we got a quantity discount of 15% for ten pairs. Rs 1800/- per pair. A true Indian trekking and outdoor shoe this. -Lucky
