This 13-day itinerary has the perfect balance of culture and nature. As you are hike uphill to the heights of thousands of feet above sea level, admire majestic views of nature, and meet the people living there and learn about their lives. The Gokyo Lakes trek takes you to plenty of small Himalayan villages and towns like Phakding, Mongla, Lukla and Machhermo. A day in Namche Bazaar will give you a chance to buy hand-made souvenirs.

 

The five mesmerising lakes of Gokyo are the highlight of this itinerary. A single sight of these waterbodies will bring you closer to nature and make you respect it more. Do not forget, this package also includes a hike to the summit of Gokyo Ri. From an altitude of around 17575 feet, the vistas will surely leave you spell bound. This Gokyo Ri Trek in Nepal also gives you infinite photography opportunities. While on the excursion, click pictures with the backdrop of Cho Oyu – the sixth highest mountain in the world – and Thamserku peak.

 

Itinerary:

 

Day 01: Arrival in Kathmandu
Upon arrival in Kathmandu, transfer to the hotel for an overnight stay. Kathmandu, the national capital, is the cultural hub of Nepal. There are a number of tourist points of interest here that you can visit during your free time. Boudhanath, Swayambhunath and Pashupatinath Temple are some must-visit attractions. Apart from these, you can also explore the National Museum of Nepal and Kopan Monastery.

 

Day 02: Kathmandu to Lukla (9300 feet) - Lukla to Phakding (8600 feet|2-3 hours)
After freshening up in the morning, transfer to the airport to board your flight to Lukla to begin this Gokyo Lakes Trek. Post arrival in Lukla, start trekking towards Phakding, a small village in the heart of the Dudh Kosi River Valley, and your second stop on this journey.

 

Day 03: Phakding to Namche Bazaar (11280 feet|5-6 hours)
This day of the Gokyo Ri Trek in Nepal will take you to the quaint village of Namche Bazaar. Trekking up and downhill, through pine forest and alongside Dudh Kosi River, you will reach your destination, at an altitude of over 11280 feet.

 

Day 04: Leisure Day in Namche Bazaar
Spend the day acclimatising to the Himalayan weather and interact with the local people to learn about their culture.

 

Day 05: Namche Bazaar to Mongla (13000 feet|3-4 hours)
The next stop on this amazing trek is the high-altitude village, Mongla. From an altitude of around 13000 feet, admire panoramic views of Thamserku.

 

Day 06: Mongla to Machhermo (14660 feet|5-6 hours)
Trek along the Dudh Kosi River towards the small village of Machhermo. You will also pass Phortse Thanga and Dole en route. On your way, capture picturesque views of Cho Oyu Mountain – the sixth highest mountain in the world.

 

Day 07: Machhermo to Gokyo | Gokyo Lake Tour (15700 feet|5-6 hours)
Today, you trek to the Gokyo village, situated at the foot of the Gokyo peak. Post reaching your destination, explore the various lakes that this region is known for. After a visit to the First and Second Lake, end the day with an overnight stay on the banks of Gokyo Lake III.

 

Day 08: Gokyo Lake Tour
Wake up to a spectacular view of the lake, and later visit Gokyo Lake V, passing Gokyo Lake IV en route. At an altitude of over 15000 feet, Gokyo Lakes are the world’s highest system of freshwater lakes. The serenity and magnificence of these lakes will leave you awe-struck.

 

Day 09: Gokyo – Gokyo Ri (17575 feet) – Machhermo (14660 feet|6-7 hours)
This day of the Gokyo Lakes and Gokyo Ri Trek will take you to the destination you have been waiting for, the summit of Gokyo Ri. While hiking towards Gokyo Ri, you will be able to capture spectacular views of Himalayan peaks. At 17575 feet above sea level, this is the highest point of this trek. After the hike, trek downhill to reach the Machhermo village.

 

Day 10: Machhermo to Namche Bazaar (11280 feet|6-7 hours)
Freshen up in the morning and start trekking down. In about 6-7 hours, you will reach the small village of Namche Bazaar, you passed on your way to Gokyo Ri.

 

Day 11: Namche Bazaar to Lukla
Trek back to the beautiful Lukla town cherishing the beauty and experience of the Himalayan landscape.

 

Day 12: Lukla to Kathmandu
Transfer to the airport to board your flight to Kathmandu.

 

Day 13: Departure from Kathmandu
Disperse from Kathmandu and move to your next destination.
