Krishnan's regular line of work is in wireless technologies (about which he is very passionate). But his passion for life has been outdoor photography, a pursuit he has been indulging in ever since he first picked up his father's Minolta Hi-Matic 7s 35mm Rangefinder. He has travelled the world with his camera, but some of his most enjoyable moments have been in India - there is, he says, "way too much to experience here!" .
From: Mumbai, IndiaI've been clicking photos for over 20 years now - photography started out as a passion during my schooldays. I prefer to photograph nature, mostly wildlife, birds and landscapes; in adventure photography, I especially love the mountains and trekking. I used to handle my father's camera when I was at school. My earliest recollection is from some time in the 7th or 8th standard, when my father allowed me to click some photos on a picnic. I then took up photography as a subject at school, learning the basics using an old Agfa Click III 120 Format camera, and black-and-white films. Hanging around in the darkroom was always fun - it was just fascinating watching an image come to life. As a photographer my most memorable moment came in 2010, when I won first place in the 'birds category', in an international photo competition organized by the National Wildlife Foundation (USA). As for parachuting, my first "jump" came while I was a 23-year-old at the Indian Military Academy. After the IMA, I joined the Parachute Signals. Nowadays, I just "paraglide"!.
