Sunil is an unlikely adventurer. He started scuba diving at the age of 50 and did his first ever trek, the Kailash Manasarovar Yatra, at 59. Since then he has been fortunate enough to have been able to indulge in these two outdoor passions regularly. Sunil is a mechanical engineer by training; he retired in 2001 and works (now and then) as a solo management consultant .
From: Garden Estate, Gurgaon, IndiaI'm a rather late entrant into the world of adventure activity - I had just crossed the half-century mark when I first went scuba diving, and was almost touching 60 when I set off for my first trek. But I think I have more than made up for any lost time! In early 2013, my wife Neena and I fulfilled a long-cherished dream to go diving in the Revillagigedos Islands, a volcanic archipelago in the Pacific Ocean, off Mexico - it was an experience which far exceeded every expectation! In trekking, my goal currently is to reach the summit of a 6000m peak. In 2012, I had attempted an ascent on Stok Kangri in Ladakh (6153m) but my attempt ultimately proved unsuccessful. This year, in 2013, I plan to have a shot at climbing Mentok Kangri (6250m), in Rupshu Plateau, Eastern Ladakh .
