Day 01: Arrival in Cherrapunji | Trek to Living Root Bridge

On reaching Cherrapunji, transfer to the resort. Located in the Northeast Indian state of Meghalaya, Cherrapunji is one of the wettest places on earth. Lying amidst scenic mountains, covered with lush tropical jungles, the place is a temple of tranquillity. Eco-tourism and trekking are marvellous ways to witness the natural charm of the destination.

Post check-in, relish lunch and relax. About an hour later, embark on a short hiking excursion through the thickly forested mountains in the area. The trek will take you to the famous living root bridges that are found nowhere else than Meghalaya. Locals form them by making the hanging roots of banyan trees grow around the branches of betel nut trees.
