Come for hiking and fishing at Glenburn Tea Estate, and you will love every bit of it. This roughly 156 years old property is located on a hilltop, giving panoramic views of the distant Himalayan mountains. Here you are in for a world of warm hospitality and luxurious living. You may either stay at the Burra Bungalow or at the Water Lily Bungalow, with each one having four suites. Each of these eight magnificent suites follows a separate theme, and all of them have antique interiors giving a grand Colonial feeling. The bathrooms of all but one suite have bathtubs while all of them have rain showers. Similarly, both the bungalows have living rooms with fireplaces, dining halls, terraces and beautiful gardens.

You will find fruit baskets, embroidered linen, fans and complementary toiletries in every room of the estate. Entertainment facilities that you may avail here include board games, motion pictures, newspapers, magazines, library, Wi-Fi connectivity and a music system. Meals are generally a grand affair at Glenburn Tea Estate, with a range of dishes and places to dine in. You may relish your meals in utter privacy or in the dining room, morning room, terrace or in the garden of the Water Lily Bungalow. Gastronomic offerings here include local, popular Indian, South-east Asian and European dishes, all made utilising their on-estate produce. Apart from these, they also make their own breads, cookies, cakes and marmalades. You may also organise a fun picnic and enjoy lip-smacking barbecued delights.

The property has so many things for you to do that you will never feel bored of staying here. You can relax in the verandah and look endlessly at the towering Kanchenjunga peak. Come here any time of the year to relish fishing in Darjeeling as the property is perfect for it. The perennial snow-fed Rangeet River here is full of mahseer and trout, and the property provides you with fishing equipment. Here you also have wonderful opportunities for hiking in Darjeeling, and the trails vary according to difficulty level. You may also get beauty treatments and massages, or take informative cooking classes. Go down to the tea gardens to learn the art of plucking leaves, tour the tea factory to see the manufacturing process, and taste the variety of teas produced here.

There is even a lodge on the banks of the river, where you can stay and enjoy bonfire in the evening. It has two rooms with separate bathrooms, and a large verandah. If you want to take a dip in the river, you will find towels at the lodge to wipe yourself off. At night, the building is lit with kerosene lanterns, and you may have your dinner in your room, on the riverbank or in the open balcony. You can enjoy hiking in Darjeeling by descending from the main estate through the mountains to the site of the lodge itself.
