ITINERARY:

DAY 01: ARRIVAL IN PARO | PARO TO THIMPHU (50 KM/1.25 HOURS APPROX.)
After landing at Paro Airport, meet our representative and then travel to Thimphu by road. On arrival in the city, check-in at the hotel and stay overnight.

DAY 02: SIGHTSEEING IN THIMPHU
Post breakfast at the hotel, tour the city and visit some of its famous attractions. This Bhutan holiday package includes visits to a lot of sites that will help you learn in detail about the country and its people. See the national animal and several species of deer at Motithang Takin Preserve. Walk all the way up to the top floor of the BBS Tower, and be mesmerised by panoramic views of the Thimphu Valley. Pay homage to the giant statue of the Buddha of love – Avalokitesvara – and see old prayer books at Changangkha Lhakhang.

Revel in utter peace at Buddha Point, which houses the huge gilded copper Buddha Dordenma statue. Head inside the pedestal on which the idol sits as it doubles up as an airy meditation room. Later, explore Changlimithang Stadium, a multi-purpose arena in the heart of the city that is the centre of sports in the country. Continue your sightseeing tour of Thimphu by seeing Tashichoo Dzong – the office of the monarchy – from outside. Look at intricate cloth paintings and photos of the third Bhutanese king at National Memorial Chorten. The day is incomplete without visiting the Handicrafts Emporium and city stores to shop for exquisite souvenirs. Later, return to the hotel in the evening for a comfortable overnight stay.

DAY 03: TRAVEL FROM THIMPHU TO PUNAKHA/WANGDUE VIA DOCHULA PASS
Today, after gaining the permit to travel deeper into the kingdom (not issued on weekends and government holidays), travel to Punakha or Wangdue. Make the most of your Bhutan holidays by undertaking a drive from Thimphu to Punakha or Wangdue. En route, stop at Dochula, a mountain pass at an elevation of around 10170 feet above sea level. Click as many photos of the snow-clad Himalayas as you can from atop here before making your way further.

Later, on the way to Punakha/Wangdue, you may visit the village of Mehsina or Chimi Lhakhang. The latter is a square-shaped Buddhist temple with a simple exterior and richly painted interior. On arrival in Punakha/Wangdue, explore Punakha Dzong, located just upstream of the confluence of the Mo Chu and Puna Tsang Chu rivers. See the numerous temples, the central tower, called Utse; and the abundant beautiful paintings of various Buddhist deities here.

Also during the day, visit Sangchhen Dorji Lhuendrup Lhakhang Nunnery, which has marvellous idols of Padmasambhava, Avalokitesvara, Gautama Buddha, Goddess Tara and Shabdrung Ngawang Namgyal. The schooling centre offers courses on Buddhism, sculpting, embroidery and painting to nuns. After sightseeing, drive to your hotel in Punakha/Wangdue for an overnight stay.

DAY 04: TRANSFER FROM PUNAKHA/WANGDUE TO PARO
Check-out from the hotel in the morning, and embark on a road trip to the city of Paro. On arrival, check-in at the hotel for an overnight stay.

DAY 05: SIGHTSEEING IN PARO
Today, this Bhutan holiday package will bring your way another round of amazing sightseeing. Explore the six floors and various galleries of the National Museum of Bhutan, housed within the central tower of Ta Dzong. See farming equipment, arms, ritualistic articles, traditional clothes, jewels, prehistoric tools and vessels, thangkas, sculptures, stamps and many more things at the museum.

Make your Bhutan holidays better by undertaking a short, yet exciting trek from Ta Dzong to Rinpung Dzong. The latter place has many Buddhist temples, stupas and a central assembly hall. See the ruined stone walls and various buildings of Drukgyel Dzong. Another place that you will see during the tour is Kyichu Lhakhag, which is among the oldest Buddhist temples in the kingdom. Thereafter, come back to the hotel in the evening and stay overnight.

DAY 06: DEPARTURE FROM BHUTAN
Following breakfast, check-out from the hotel and transfer to Paro Airport to catch your return flight.
