Arrive in Paro by flight, and then travel straight to Thimphu – the national capital. Learn about the culture, religion, sports and political history of the country by paying visits to numerous tourist attractions in the city. Thereafter, travel to Punakha/Wangdue for yet another round of sightseeing. See 2-3 of its most famous points of interest, and then travel to the scenic Phobjikha Valley by road across the Dochula pass. Return to Punakha/Wangdue in the evening, and thereafter drive to Paro.

Undertake another picturesque drive through the mountains from the Paro town, this time to the spellbinding Haa Valley, crossing Chelela on the way. The next two days of this Paro travel package include two exciting treks - first to the Rinpung Dzong and later to Ta Dzong. Visit two more attractions in the town of Paro, and the next morning embark on a longer trek to the famous Taktsang monastery. Come back to the hotel after exploring the monastery, and then catch your return flight from the city.

ITINERARY:

DAY 01: ARRIVAL IN PARO | PARO TO THIMPHU
On landing at Paro Airport, meet our travel agent and then drive to Thimphu.

DAY 02: SIGHTSEEING IN THIMPHU
Following a scrumptious breakfast at the hotel, begin Paro tour package sightseeing by visiting some prominent attractions in the Bhutanese capital. A subtropical highland climate is experienced in Thimphu owing to its altitude of about 7500 feet. Summers here are cool and pleasant, while winters can get quite cold due to regular occurrences of snowfall. The culture of the locals is reflected in the numerous festivals, celebrated throughout the year.

Get a taste of the sporting culture of the country with a visit to Changlimithang Stadium, which is used for football and archery matches. Click photos of serene Thimphu Valley from the top floor of the BBS Tower. See takins and other animals stroll fearlessly in the gently sloping pine jungles of Motithang Takin Preserve. Spend some quiet time inside the meditation hall that serves as the pedestal of the approximately 169-feet high Buddha Dordenma statue.

In the afternoon, visit the National Memorial Chorten – having a collection of fine cloth paintings of Buddhist deities. See the magnificent Tashichho Dzong, which houses royal thrones and offices of the king, from outside. Make your trip memorable by shopping for souvenirs at local stores and the well-known Handicrafts Emporium. Later, return to the hotel and stay overnight.

DAY 03: THIMPHU TO PUNAKHA/WANGDUE VIA DOCHULA PASS
In the morning obtain the essential permit to go deeper into the country (not issued on Saturdays, Sundays and government holidays). Thereafter, start an amazing road journey through the mountains with this Paro travel package to Punakha/Wangdue. Have tea atop the approximately 10170-feet high Dochula pass. If the day is clear, then high mountains in the distance can also be seen from here. Resume the journey to Punakha/Wangdue after appreciating the Mother Nature, and further en route, you may also explore attractions like Mehsina village and Chimi Lhakhang.

The lhakhang or temple contains a statue of a monk, and many items of religious use like drums and bells. On arrival in Punakha, walk through the courtyard of Punakha Dzong, and see the various stupas and temples inside its premises. Explore Sangchhen Dorji Lhuendrup Lhakhang Nunnery, and see intricately-designed statues of Avalokitesvara, Lord Buddha, Shabdrung Ngawang Namgyal, Padmasambhava and 21 forms of Goddess Tara. Post exploring these attractions, transfer to the hotel in Punakha/Wangdue for an overnight stay.

DAY 04: PUNAKHA/WANGDUE TO PHOBJIKHA VALLEY | PHOBJIKHA VALLEY TO PUNAKHA
Relish a sumptuous breakfast at the hotel, and thereafter travel to Phobjikha Valley by road. It is flat stretch of land at an elevation of around 9800 feet above sea level. The lush forests of the surrounding mountains contrast the almost-treeless valley beautifully. In winters, lots of black-necked cranes migrate here from the high-altitude Tibetan Plateau.

On arrival here, stroll through the lush farms, and also visit the village of Gangtey. Return to the hotel in Punakha/Wangdue in the evening for a comfortable overnight stay.

DAY 05: TRAVEL FROM PUNAKHA/WANGDUE TO PARO
Check-out from the hotel in the morning, and drive to the town of Paro. On reaching here, transfer to the hotel for staying overnight.

DAY 06: PARO TO HAA VALLEY VIA CHELELA PASS | HAA VALLEY TO PARO
Early in the morning, begin a scenic drive through the mountains to the mesmeric valley of Haa. Drive through thick growths of rhododendrons and blue pines before ascending the summit of Chelela. The mountain pass is at a height of around 13000 feet, and it commands panoramic views of Chomolhari and Drake – the two most significant peaks of Bhutan.

After admiring this beautiful scenery, continue the journey towards Haa, and on reaching here, take a walk through the valley. After spending quality time here, retrace the way back to Paro for an overnight stay.

DAY 07: SIGHTSEEING IN PARO
After breakfast, embark on another Paro tour package sightseeing venture. Travel to Ta Dzong, and explore the six storeys of its central tower, which houses the exhibits of the National Museum of Bhutan. Thereafter, undertake a minor hike to Rinpung Dzong, which is close by. Stroll through its courtyards, and visit the temples and stupas here.

See the remains of stone walls and numerous edifices within the premises of Drukgyel Dzong. Pay homage at Kyichu Lhakhang, which was constructed in the 7th century, making it one of the oldest religious sites in Bhutan. Return to the hotel in the evening and stay overnight.

DAY 08: VISIT TAKTSANG
Relish breakfast at the hotel, and then travel to the astonishing Taktsang monastery. This is the second trek in this Paro travel package, and it will be quite adventurous. After walking on the mountains trails for about three hours, reach the monastery, which is located on a high cliff and is surrounded by dense pine jungles. See its four temples, numerous caves, and paintings of Bodhisattvas, Avalokitesvara and other deities. In the afternoon, hike down to the hotel, and enjoy a free evening, ending it with an overnight stay.

DAY 09: DEPARTURE FROM PARO
After breakfast, check-out from the hotel, and transfer to Paro Airport to board your return flight.
