If this is your first time in the North East, then Kalimpong, Gangtok and Darjeeling in North Bengal and Sikkim respectively are great places to start. These beautiful towns will give you perfect flavor of this enchanting region.

Both Gangtok and Darjeeling are small mountain towns that boast abundant natural and man-made sites to visit. From Nurseries to monasteries to the local culture influenced by Buddhism, a visit to North Eastern India would be like an adventure you have not had before.

You will visit Tiger Hill in Darjeeling for witnessing the most beautiful sunrise over Mt Kanchenjunga and also the town of Mirik in Sikkim, which has Mt Kanchenjunga for backdrop throughout its stretch. Every place and location would make you want to take out your cameras and capture those moments forever.

DETAILED ITINERARY:

DAY 01: Arrival NJP/ IXB to Kalimpong
Arrive at NJP/ Bagdogra and get transferred to Kalimpong, which is a small hill town in North Bengal. It offers magnificent views of the snowcapped mountains. Upon reaching, check in to the hotel for overnight stay.

DAY 02: Kalimpong to Gangtok
Have your breakfast and visit Dello Flower Orchid Nursery, Dr. Grahams Home, Mangal Dham and Buddhist monastery. Post this come back to the hotel, check out and leave for Gangtok, the capital city of Sikkim.

DAY 03: Excursion to Tsomgo Lake & Baba Mandir (timing will depend on the issuance of Permit)
After breakfast leave a little early for Tsomgo Lake situated at a height of 3780 mts surrounded by snowcapped mountains & Baba mandir made by Indian army in honour of Sepoy harbhajan Singh. You will get back to Gangtok only by late afternoon. Spend the evening exploring the local life and culture on MG road.

DAY 04: Gangtok to Darjeeling
After breakfast check out of the hotel and proceed towards Darjeeling. Enroute visit Rumtek monastery and directorate of handicrafts and handlooms, Do Drul Chorten, Institute of Tibetology (the latter 3 closed on Sundays). Reach Darjeeling by late evening which is the famous hill resort of the British Raj with its old world charm and lush tea gardens. Check in to the hotel for an overnight stay.

DAY 05: Darjeeling
Wake up early morning at 4 AM to visit Tiger Hill to enjoy breathtaking views of sunrise over Mt Kanchenjunga. On your way back visit Batasia loop and Ghoom monastery. Reach hotel to finish breakfast. Later proceed for a half day sightseeing of the Himalayan Mountaineering Institute & PNZ Zoological Park (both closed on Thursday) Tenzing rock , Tibetan self-help refuge centre (closed on Sunday) , tea garden (outer view), Japanese temple , peace pagoda & rope way (extra cost). Spend the evening taking a stroll on the mall road and return to the hotel for an overnight stay.

DAY 06: Excursion to Mirik & Pashupati Market
Today after breakfast enjoy a road trip to Mirik, a small picturesque hill station at 5100 ft with a beautiful lake surrounded by forested hills and pine trees on all sides with the back drop of Mt Kanchenjunga. The drive to Mirik runs through some fascinating tea gardens and pine forests. Enjoy horse ride or boating at the lake, (boating/ horse ride payment direct). On the way back to Darjeeling return via Pashupati Market on Nepal India border (need extra vehicle to enter into the market, direct payment). Return to the hotel in the afternoon and spend the evening relaxing.

DAY 07: Darjeeling to NJP / IXB
Your tour comes to an end today. Get transferred to NJP / Bagdogra for the return journey.
