Itinerary:
Day 01: Arrival in Guwahati | Guwahati to Kaziranga National Park (approx. 195 km | 3.5 hours)
Upon arrival at Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport, transfer to Kaziranga National Park. Home to a number of endangered species of animals and birds, Kaziranga National Park is among the most sought-after destinations in India for a nature tour. Apart from the treasured one-horned rhinos, grey mongooses, large and small Indian civets, Bengal foxes and sloth bears can also be seen at this site. Upon arrival here, transfer to the resort and enjoy an overnight stay.
Day 02: Wildlife Safari in Kaziranga National Park
After an appetising breakfast, head out to explore the amazing wildlife of this protected territory. From the comforts of a Jeep, marvel at the sights of the animals, birds and plants that thrive here. In the evening, relish a visit to a tea garden to learn more about how tea leaves are processed. Also, explore some nearby villages to get an insight into the local culture. Thereafter, transfer back to the resort to get some sleep.
Day 03: Kaziranga National Park to Shillong (approx. 255 km | 4.75 hours)
Following a sumptuous breakfast, check-out from the resort and drive to Shillong. Upon arrival here, transfer to the hotel for an overnight stay.
Day 04: Shillong – Cherrapunjee – Shillong
Post breakfast, this Kaziranga Shillong and Guwahati road trip takes you to Cherrapunjee. One of the wettest places in India and the world, Cherrapunjee has held the record for highest annual rainfall. The place, also called Sohra, was established as a subdivision of the East Khasi Hills district of Meghalaya. This amazing section of the journey also takes you some well-known attractions in the region. While driving to Cherrapunjee, stop at Elephant Falls and Shillong Peak to admire the beauty of these landforms.
While the former is a spellbinding waterfall, Shillong Peak – at an altitude of almost 6500 feet – presents an ideal spot for outings and picnics. Panoramic views of the Shillong city can also be enjoyed from the summit. After arriving in Cherrapunjee, explore some sites that charm this town. Capture the glamour of Mawsmai Cave, and thereafter move to the namesake waterfall to experience its charm. From here, travel to the famous Nohkalikai Falls and learn about the legend associated with this natural marvel.
After lunch in Cherrapunjee, continue the sightseeing jaunt and explore Thangkharang Park, Ka Khoh Ramhah and the three-stepped Kynrem Falls – the highest waterfall in Meghalaya. Following this wonderful nature tour, return to the hotel in Shillong and rest.
Day 05: Shillong to Guwahati (approx. 100 km | 2.5 hours) | Sightseeing in Guwahati
Post breakfast, embark on a road trip to the city of Guwahati, and on reaching your destination, transfer to the hotel. Now the Kaziranga Shillong and Guwahati Jeep safari tour will take you to Kamakhya Temple. Dedicated to Goddess Kamakhya or Sati, it consists of domes atop its sanctum, something that is rarely seen in Hindu shrines.
Later, visit Srimanta Sankaradev Kalakshetra, and learn about the rich cultural heritage of Assam. Thereafter, return to the hotel and enjoy an overnight stay.
Day 06: Departure from Guwahati
After a lip-smacking breakfast, transfer to Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport and board the flight for your onward journey.
