Anjarle Turtle Festival is a unique way of celebrating and enjoying responsible eco-tourism in India while taking the chance to explore beautiful beach locales. The festival takes directly after the conservation efforts initiated at Velas by an NGO named Sahyadri Nisarg Mitra and the Kasav Mitra Mandal Committee.

Anjarle, a small village in the Ratnagiri district is where each year, a lot of turtles of the Olive Ridley population come to lay eggs. These are then put in a hatchery built by the locals on the beach and allowed to incubate naturally. Proper care is taken of these unhatched eggs until the time they hatch and baby turtles set out for the sea. When it started out, such an initiative was an important step in conserving the lessening population of the Olive Ridley turtles. Even still, the festival offers a wonderful opportunity to understand all the life around us and taking steps to conserve it. As the baby turtles come out of their eggs to later move towards the sea, it is an immensely gratifying moment to witness it.

An integrated experience, this one makes for a great way to combine both our unequivocal support for environment and indulge in quality laid-back time at the beach.  You can walk on the white sands at Anjarle beach and enjoy some early morning turtle sighting. It is a brilliant way of getting one with the nature and truly experiencing the humbling beauty of it.

What's more to this package is the chance to visit the Suvarnadurg Fort and three popular temples nearby: Kadyavarcha Ganpati, Shree Keshavraj Temple, Shree Vyaghreshwar Temple. So, while you make a strong statement about being a responsible tourist by choosing an easy-on-the-planet travel, you also get to explore the natural charms of the underrated Anjarle beach. Furthermore, you will also get to explore under-the-radar spots near and in Anjarle and get to delve into the local Konkani culture.

For lovers of nature and travel, and especially for the ones that like to combine the two, this is an ideal vacation.
