DETAILED ITINERARY:

DAY 1: ARRIVE IN MANALI
Arrive in Manali on your own. As you get settled in this charming hill town, you are allocated your bikes. Drive to Nagar palace, which is a small town near Manali to get a hang of the bike and check on minor glitches or issues if faced so that the mechanic can fix the problems right away.

DAY 2: MANALI – BANJAR/JALORI (120 KMS)
Today the Spiti Motorbike Expedition officially begins as you start our drive towards Jalori pass which is situated in the beautiful Banjar valley. The entire route that is followed will pass along the mighty Beas River and the area lies on the outskirts of the Great Himalayan National Park. As you reach today’s destination, walk around the nearby areas to get acclimatized. We stay in tented accommodation for the night.

DAY 3: BANJAR/JALORI – CHITKUL (200 KMS)
Today will be a long drive as we enter another beautiful hill town called Sangla in Baspa valley. It is known as the gateway to Kinnaur Valley. Baspa River flows continuously all through the Sangla town. The drive will take you through forested slopes, apple, apricot and walnut orchards. Mesmerizing views of the stunning Kinnaur Kailash Mountain await you here. However, today’s destination is further away from Sangla called Chitkul which is said to be the last village of the Baspa valley. It is here that we pitch our tents and soak in the breathtaking vistas of the glacier stream flowing away surrounded by the snow-capped views of Kinnaur Kailash.

DAY 4: CHITKUL – KALPA (75 KMS)
Today we head further towards the capital city of Kinnaur district called Recong Peo which is more famous as a major commercial center. From here we move on towards Kalpa which is not very far from Reckong Peo. As we proceed towards Kalpa there is a change of mountain terrain from forested slopes to rugged dry and rocky mountainous zones. It is believed that the entire range of Kinnaur Kailash can be experienced from Kalpa town. Spend overnight in tented accommodation in Kalpa.

DAY 5: KALPA – KAZA (200 KMS)
The route that we will take today from Kalpa to Kaza is considered to be the highlight of this tour as we continue to witness drastic changes in geographical features from greenery to rocky mountains to further more cold deserts. It is advisable to start off early on this day as the route is long and arduous and for enjoying the trail better it is always good to have sufficient time in hand as enroute we will pass by Nakko Lake, Tabbo monastery. We will camp at Kaza for an overnight stay.

DAY 6: AT KAZA
Today we will spend the day at leisure in Kaza. You will get a chance to explore the famous Kee Monastery and also if possible visit Kibber village which is one of the highest inhabited villages in the world. It is quite an experience to walk around the local villages and try to know an indigenous culture unknown to many amongst us. We stay overnight in the hotel.

DAY 7: AT KAZA
Today also we will spend additional rest day in Kaza and explore further. We will visit another highest inhabited village called Komic village. Most of the day will be spent resting and getting ourselves prepared for the next day’s journey for the Spiti Motorbike Expedition. We stay overnight in the hotel.

DAY 8: KAZA – CHANDRATAAL (80 KMS)
The icing on the cake is left for the last day of the trip as the riders gear up for a thrilling ride through Kunzum pass - one of the most serene places on earth to see Chandrataal , the moon lake. It is said that on a full moon night the lake dazzles. Spend some quality time close to the lake and enjoy capturing its ethereal beauty in your cameras and your hearts. We stay overnight in tented accommodation.

DAY 9: CHANDRATAAL – MANALI (120 KMS)
Today this thrilling adventure comes to an end ad we drive back to Manali via Rohtang Pass.

FAQs:

1. Will there be support for mechanical failure etc. (seen on a few web sites where a mini pickup 4x4 with spares and mechanic follows throughout the journey). Would there be similar kind of arrangement?
Yes, support will be there for mechanical breakdowns. Backup vehicle is provided along with one mechanic who will be having expertise in any type of breakdowns, if any.

2. Would we have anyone in the group with previous Spiti biking experience?
Yes. There will be a ride captain maintaining the decorum throughout the ride. Our full team of riders accompanying the group is having Spiti experience beforehand. Apart from Spiti experience, they also have a vast experience in riding all over India, on-road as well as off-road.

3. What if I make the payment and the ride is cancelled?
The ride will not be cancelled in any circumstances unless and until some natural calamities block our way.

4. Any further info that you can provide now on the kind of accommodation that we can expect?
As far as accommodation is concerned, we will be staying in hotels/camps located at various pre-defined stopovers at the end of the day. Sometimes, it will be camps and at some places, it will be hotels/guest houses. Final accommodation schedules along with the pre-defined stopover will be communicated with the confirmed riders.

5. Any discount can be given if we are a group of 4-5 riders?
Yes. It can be taken into consideration.

6. I have a heart problem/asthma problem. Am I allowed to join the ride?
Yes you can join but you must intimate us beforehand about any of the major illness of yours. We need to be extra cautious in those cases.
