Day 01: Arrival in Srinagar
On landing at the Srinagar Airport, meet our representative and transfer to the houseboat for a relaxing overnight stay.
Day 02: Shikara Ride | Srinagar – Sonamarg (9200 feet) – Zoji La (11575 feet) – Dras (10760 feet) – Kargil (8780 feet) approx. 200 km
Before starting the Srinagar to Manali motorbike expedition, take a wonderful ride on the famed Shikaras. Post boating on the Dal Lake, get on your bikes and move towards the scenic resort town of Sonamarg. From here, ride to the summit of Zoji La, and then descend to enter the Ladakh region. On reaching the small town of Dras, visit the Kargil War Memorial to learn some incredible facts about the 1999 battle. Thereafter head to Kargil for an overnight stay at the campsite.
Day 03: Kargil – Namik La (12140 feet) – Fotu La (13450 feet) – Lamayuru (111120 feet) – Leh (11560 metres) approx. 210 km
The ensuing stretch of the Srinagar to Manali motorbike tour involves crossing two high-elevation mountain passes. First, ride across Namik La and later across Fotu La – both located at more than 12000 feet above sea level. Thereafter, make your way through the ancient village of Lamayuru, and reach Leh. On arrival in the city, head to the guesthouse for an overnight stay.
Day 04: Sightseeing in and around Leh
Begin the marvellous sightseeing part of the Srinagar to Manali motorbike trip by exploring the area around Leh. This excursion will take you to Hemis Monastery, Leh Palace, Shanti Stupa and Shey Palace.
The widely accepted fact that Hemis Monastery was built in the 11th century makes it among the oldest such Buddhist establishments in all of Ladakh. Padmasambhava or Guru Rinpoche, whose enormous statue is enshrined in the main assembly hall of the monastery, is the most venerated deity here.
Shey Palace was constructed by King Deldan Namgyal in the 17th century to serve as a summer retreat for his family. A statue of Lord Buddha, approximately 40 feet in height and entirely covered with gold, is the primary attraction here. As it sits atop a high hill, Leh Palace gives panoramic views of the entire city. Apart from the faded, yet breathtaking paintings on the palace walls, ornaments, crowns, and ceremonial dresses, displayed at the on-site museum, are worth admiring.
A symbol of world peace, Shanti Stupa was constructed by Buddhist monks from Ladakh and Japan. The structure displays numerous religious symbols and images of Lord Buddha. Post the city tour, return to the guesthouse and rest.
Day 05: Leh – Khardung La (17852 feet) – Hunder (Nubra Valley) approx. 130 km
This section of the Srinagar to Manali motorbike expedition involves undertaking a scenic and thrilling road journey to the Nubra Valley. The road to the valley will take you across what is claimed to be the highest drivable road on earth – Khardung La. Upon reaching the village of Hunder which is located on the banks of the Nubra River, head to the campsite for a relaxing overnight stay.
Day 06: Hunder to Leh (approx. 130 km)
Another opportunity to ascend Khardung La comes your way, as you continue your Srinagar to Manali motorbike tour and drive back to Leh. Upon arriving in the city, travel to the hotel to rest at night.
Day 07: Leh to Pangong Tso (14370 feet/225 km)
Continue the Srinagar to Manali motorbike trip by riding towards Pangong Tso – an approximately 130-km long trans-boundary lake. On the way, ride through Chang La – a mountain pass located at an altitude of around 17590 feet. On reaching the shores of this enchanting waterbody, take in its beauty and tranquillity, and capture photos of the realm. Later, transfer to the campsite for a warming bonfire and a peaceful overnight stay in the lap of nature.
Day 08: Pangong Tso to Leh (225 km)
In this part of the incredible Srinagar to Manali motorbike expedition, reach Leh and enjoy the rest of the day at leisure. Stroll in the local markets and buy some peculiar handicrafts of the region before transferring to the guesthouse for an overnight stay.
Day 09: Leh – Tanglang La (17480 feet) – Morey Plains – Pang – Lachulung La (16600 feet) – Naki La (15550 feet) – Sarchu (14070 feet) approx. 250 km
This is undoubtedly one of the most adventurous legs of this Srinagar to Manali motorbike tour yet. While driving towards Sarchu – a major halt on the famous Leh-Manali Highway – cross three high mountain passes, namely Tanglang La, Lachulung La and Naki La. Also, enjoy driving leisurely on the approximately 40-km long Morey Plains – a flat stretch of land. Another popular site along the highway that you will go past is Pang.
Just before Sarchu, comes a series of over 20 sharp hairpin bends and road switchbacks, known as Gata Loops. Conquer this section carefully, and on reaching Sarchu, enjoy an overnight stay in tents.
Day 10: Sarchu – Keylong (10100 feet) – Manali (6725 feet) approx. 224 km
In the last phase of the Srinagar to Manali motorbike trip, cross two more high-elevation mountain passes. Ride over Baralacha La and then enter Keylong – the headquarters of the Lahaul and Spiti district of Himachal Pradesh. From here, head south towards Rohtang Pass – a popular tourist destination in North India. As the pass is crossed, the brown landscape will suddenly become green. On reaching Manali, move for your onward journey.
Day 11: Manali - Bilaspur - Chandigarh - Departure( 300 kms)
Just cruise along the NH-21 to reach Chandigarh. Journey concludes.
