Climate:
The climate of Bandhavgarh can be characterised as- during the summers, the mercury goes up to 45 C and during winters, in the month of January it falls up to 2 degree Celsius. The climate thus varies between two opposite extremes. Most of the precipitation occurs during monsoons with the average annual rainfall of about 1200mm. The rain showers bring a good retreat from the scorching summer heat.
How to Reach?
By Road:
The park can be reached easily as it is well-connected from cities like Jabalpur, Umaria, Satna, Katni and Khajuraho. It is a 3-4 hours drive from Jabalpur; around 3.5 hours from Satna; 2.5 hours from Katni and nearly 45 minutes from Umaria. Both private and state transport services are available from these places.
By Rail:
The nearest railway stations to this park are in Katni and Umaria. From Katni, it is about 100 km on the Central Railway and about 35 km from Umaria on the South Eastern Railway.
By Air:
The nearest airport to this place is in Jabalpur airport, which is easily accessible from New Delhi by daily domestic flights. From here, it is a 4-hour drive to this park. Another option to reach is from Khajuraho airport, a 7-hour drive from here. Though the drive is long but it is quite interesting as on the way you will get a chance to sight the Ken River, a famous crocodile sanctuary and Panna town, a diamond mine hub. On your way to Bandhavgarh, you can experience adventure by driving across the ridges of the Vindhyachal hills.
