Winter Survival and Mountain Skills Course is a great introductory course if you want to gain a better understanding of high altitude mountaineering. Lead by 22-times Everest Summiteer, Sherpa Ngyma Nuru, Mountaineering Course in India will cover basic skills required on high altitude climbs. Ideal for those who are planning to increase their skills and knowledge base for mountaineering expeditions, this trip will be beneficial. You will first arrive in Leh, and then after spending three days in acclimatizing, you will go for outdoors learning, using the mountain skills you learnt on the first three days. On the eighth day, we will return to Leh for the final celebration night.
 

You will be required to carry each and every gear and clothes as you will be camping and will do mountaineering in Leh Ladakh for four of the 8 nights, and the temperatures will be freezing. You will go through training, where you will be guided on how to use Ice axe and crampon technique during snow. You will learn how to survive in freezing climate aka winter survival techniques. Then, you will also need understanding of snow and ice anchoring, roped glacier travel, basics of jumaring, crevasse rescue and much more!
 

For Mountaineering in India, this course is the best option to learn the basic skills and techniques needed to scale mountains.

 

ITINERARY

 

Day 1: Arrival in Leh
After you arrive in Leh at the airport, you will meet our representative who will take you to the hotel for a check-in. On reaching, settle your luggage, you will head out for the gear check. Do a proper run on the gears and check if it meets all the requirements. Post gear check, you will return to your hotel, after dinner for an overnight stay.

 

Day 2: Tent pitching basics, Layering systems, Mountain acclimatization basics. Acclimatization walk around Leh. Overnight at Hotel
Today after the sun gilds over the sky, you will get ready for the upcoming adventure. Eat your meal, get charged up, and then head out to learn tent pitching. You will be trained on layering systems. Later, you will get familiar with mountain acclimatization basics. To get it in practice, you will walk around Leh to get acclimatize with climate and weather properly. This day will act as a warm up before the final act. Later in the evening, you will return back to the hotel for some rest and a wholesome meal, post which you can doze off.

 

Day 3:  Full day acclimatization trek. Final Gear and Food Check. Overnight at Hotel
Wake up fresh in the morning, and get all prepared with a backpack and all essential items as today you will go for an acclimatization trek. After doing a final checkup on gears and equipment, you will begin the exhilarating adventure. Make sure you also go for food check, as your energy drains quickly while trekking, so one should have food back up to boost up your drive. In the evening, you will return back to your hotel for some rest and a comfortable overnight stay.

 

Day 4: Departure to low altitude camp. Basics of pitching tents and using stoves.  Crampon and Ice axe technique. Overnight Camping
Post breakfast, today you will depart for low altitude camp to learn basics of pitching tents. You will also be trained by experts on how to use crampon and ice axe techniques for peak expeditions or snow treks. Today’s learning is all for you to learn about the things you need to keep in mind for high-altitude treks that are nestled midst snow. Later in the evening, you can relax back at your camp. In the night, have your meal and then have a goodnight sleep.

 

Day 5: Introduction to Snow and Ice anchors. Roped glacier travel. The basics of Jumaring. Overnight Camping
Today after morning meal, your day will start with training and introduction to snow and ice anchors. You will also be trained for roped glacier travel, and the basics of Jumaring. After learning about all of this, you will go back to your hotel for overnight stay at your camp.

 

Day 6: Crevasse rescue, First aid essentials and creating a shelter. Overnight Camping
Today after the sun comes up, be prepared to get ready for another phase of your training, which is crevasse rescue, first aid essentials and creating a shelter. In this training, you will be guided in details so that you understand the drill incredibly. Later, after learning all this, you will return back to your stay for camping. In the night have your meal, and then doze off quickly for retain back your strength.

 

Day 7: Summit simulation Night march. Overnight Camping
Wake up early and get your bags ready as today you will go for a summit simulation night march. Fill up your stomach as you might drain a lot of energy. Carry only the essential stuff. You will be briefed on what all to take, how will be the march, and etc. Later, you will return back to your camp. Have dinner and rest well.

 

Day 8: Transfer and overnight at Grand Dragon. Celebration dinner. Certificate distribution. Overnight at Hotel
Today you can relax the entire day, as this day you will celebrate your will to accomplish these intriguing adventures. You will return back to Leh for celebration dinner, where you will also be awarded with certificates. Later, eat well and sleep peacefully.

 

Day 9: Transfer to airport for flight out.
In the morning, after the sun shines, you will get ready to depart from the hotel. Post breakfast, you will leave for airport, depending upon your booked mode of transport and its schedule.
