Start your trek from Rumsu Base Camp, with a bunch of beautiful alpine forests offering splendid views of some of the highest snow covered mountain peaks and open valleys. It will be a wonderful experience to explore the dreamiest remote valleys of Himachal Pradesh. You will be amazed to see the 500 year old Naggar Castle and the temples around it. Trek to the little Greece of India, Malana village, known for its unique culture. The Malanis believe that they are the descendents of Alexander -The Great. ITINERARY
Day 01 - Manali Base Camp
Reach Manali Base Camp on your own. Attend the orientation session in the evening conducted by the chief organizer. You will be briefed about rucksack packing, marching/walking techniques, general awareness about the trek route and basic trekking techniques. Have your dinner and stay overnight at the camps.
Day 02 - Tranfer from Manali to Rumsu Thatch via Naggar and trek to the Base Camp of Chanderkhani Pass – Naya Tapru
Have breakfast and drive to Naggar ( 21 Kms ) from where you start your gradual climb up to Rumsu. Todays journey is short and easy as we trek till the base of chanderkhani pass and camp at Naya Tapru . Overnight stay in tents .
Day 03 - Naya Tapru - Chanderkhani Pass (3,650m) - Nagruni Thach (2,800m) (Trek/5-7 Hours)
Make an early morning start and trek to Nagroni campsite. Reach the Chanderkhani Pass and experience the thrill of climbing to the top of a mountain! Enjoy your packed lunch at the top of the Chanderkhani Pass. Descend to Nagroni campsite for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 04 - Trek from Nagruni Thach to Malana (2600m) (Trek/5 - 6 hours)
After breakfast, ascend all the way to Malana Village. Explore the remote village of Dudhani on the way. The distinctive village is known for its rare culture. For any visitors to this village there is a long list of Do’s and Don’ts. While the locals are friendly, visitors are encouraged to keep distance and not to touch anything in the village. The local language of Malana is Kanashi. Fascinating thing to note here is that the language does not resemble any of the dialects spoken in the neighbourhood. It is probably a mix of Sanskrit and several Tibetan dialects. Stay overnight at the base camp of Malana.
Day 05 - Trek from Malana to Jari, Drive from Jari to Manikaran & Kasol (Trek/2-3 hours) (Drive/ 1-2 Hours)
Today morning, you begin with the downhill trek on a steep route that is marked well till Jari. Initially, you go downhill amidst fields and then pass through a woody area of mostly Deodar trees. Proceed further downhill to Malana Nallah. Once at Malana, cross the gorge area and arrive at Manala Power project site. Proceed walking to Jari, from where you hop in to a vehicle to be driven to Kullu through Maniraran. Reach Kasol that marks the end of your Chandrakhani Pass trekking journey. Your extra luggage will be transferred to Kasol.
