The mighty Himalayas have a unique charm about them and their beauty is simply unmatched. Besides snow-clad mountains, the region is famous for its scenic meadows, which over the years have become popular trekking routes and one such is the Dayara Bugyal trek. This trail takes adventure enthusiasts to some of the scenic open lands and thick forests, ending at a vast region of lush green meadow. Many have described this trek to be like a fairy-tale and the untouched beauty of this region is a proof of that.

The Dayara Bugyal trekking expedition starts from Barsu, a small village in the district of Uttarkashi that serves as the base camp for this breathtaking experience. To reach Barsu, you will undertake a full-day drive from the revered town of Haridwar. All along this route, starting from Barsu and Barnala, you will get an opportunity to behold the serenity of the Greater Himalayas and various other lofty peaks. On this expedition, climb up to the highest point on the trek – Bakaria Top (12000 ft); the ascent to it is quite steep and difficult. Spend some quality time at this place and cherish the mesmeric views of the surrounding environs. On the following day, you descend back towards the base camp in Barsu, but en route visit Pichkiya and click pictures of its scenic alpine forests and rivulets. This Dayara Bugyal trek comes to its conclusion at Barsu, following which, you drive to Haridwar and from there on to New Delhi.

On all days, your accommodation would be your warm and cosy tents – a requisite in terrains like the ones that you will witness with this Dayara Bugyal trekking package; except on the first night when you will be given accommodation in a guesthouse in Barsu.

Day 01: Haridwar to Barsu (7545 ft) (220 km/Full-day Drive)
After spending the previous night at the holy town of Haridwar, we drive from there to Barsu (own transport), at the stroke of dawn. This would be a full-day journey and you would pass through the other famous towns of the Uttarakhand state including Chamba, Rishikesh and Uttarkashi.

Located in the Uttarkashi district, Barsu is a small village at an altitude of 1000 metres above sea level and lies on the way to the town of Gangotri. This village serves as the base camp for Dayara Bugyal trek. The drive from Uttarkashi town to Barsu (about 273 km) will be undertaken along the Bhagirathi River.

On reaching Barsu, proceed towards the guesthouse and complete the check-in formalities.
Stay overnight in the guesthouse.

Day 02: Barsu to Barnala (8530 ft) (4 km, 3–3.5 hours trek)
The Dayara Bugyal trekking expedition starts the following day, with the first trail leading to Barnala (about 4 km), which is a simple ascent. As you proceed towards Barnala, witness forests of deodar and silver oaks as well as rhododendrons. This is the area from where the scenic meadow of Dayara begins. The far stretch of green meadows is a wonderful sight to behold. What makes this experience even more special is the Himalayan mountain range in the background. This is an ideal campsite for setting up tents for the overnight stay.

Day 03: Barnala to Dayara Bugyal (9980 ft) (5 km, 4–5 hours trek)
After spending the night in the tent, trek towards the high-alpine meadow of Dayara Bugyal in the morning, trailing past the Barnala meadows. The experience of walking amidst dense forests of the Himalayas is simply breathtaking. As the climb towards Dayara comes to an end, an extensive meadow can be seen. From this place, you get the chance to witness peaks like Gangotri 1, 2 and 3; Black Peak, Srikanth, Jaonli, Rudregaira, Draupadi ka Danda 1 and 2 and Bandarpunch.

After admiring the beauty of this place, enjoy an overnight stay in the camp.

Day 04: Dayara Bugyal to Bakaria Top (12000 ft) (3 km, 2.5–3 hours trek) (Back to Dayara Bugyal)
In the morning, proceed towards Bakaria Top, which is the uppermost point on the Dayara Bugyal trek. The ascent to Bakaria Top is quite steep and it begins along the green meadows. The view from the top of this peak is simply mesmerising, with sights of deep valley, snow-clad mountains and towns of the district of Uttarkashi. The highlight though is the opportunity to behold a 360 degree view of the Greater Himalayas. After clicking pictures and admiring the natural beauty of this place, start your descent towards the camp in Dayara.
Stay overnight in the tents.

Day 05: Dayara Bugyal to Pichkiya (7873 ft) (8 km, 6–7 hours trek)
Today, you start your descent towards Pichkiya and that would take about 6 to 7 hours, with some ascents along the way. This trail crosses expansive stretches of alpine meadows, small rivers and sub-alpine forests. The campsite at Pichkiya is surrounded by alpine forests; with inner valleys at this place being home to small rhododendrons.
On reaching this campsite, set up your tent for an overnight stay.

Day 06: Pichkiya to Barsu (7545 ft) (4.5 km, 3–4 hours trek)
