When you think of adventure, Himalayas come to mind. Himalayas offer activities like trekking, rafting, paragliding, camping and motorbike expeditions.

There is nothing more thrilling than a motorbike expedition through the untouched mountain roads. With our Ganga Motorbike Expedition, spearheaded by our Motorbike Guru Manish Chachra, we bring you a seven day tour that will take you on the route that the tributaries of the Holy Ganges take to come down to Rishikesh from their respective sources to form the mighty Ganges River. Along the way, there is spiritualism and perhaps those elusive “Nirvana” moments as well.

The Ganga Motorbike Expedition is ideal for those just beginning their motorbike journeys in the Himalayas. The route is comfortable, picturesque and relatively less explored. You start this adventurous bike trip from the quaint hill town of Dehradun in Uttarakhand and over the course of 7 days, pass through the villages and towns of Mori, Harsil, New Tehri, finally reaching Rishikesh, where you end this motorbike expedition with a fun-filled rafting session.

In short, a truly spectacular tour through pristine vales, away from the touristy places and off the beaten motorcycle trail!

ITINERARY

Day 01: Arrive in Dehradun
On day one of the Ganga Motorbike Expedition reach Dehradun on your own. Once you arrive, you will be greeted and introduced to the team as you get transferred to the comforts of your hotel. Today is a rest day and you are free to explore the town on your own. For those who have taken bike rentals from us, reserve your evenings for familiarization session with the motorcycles. Tonight we will be arranging a gala welcome dinner wherein the group will get a chance to get acquainted with each other.

Day 02: Dehradun to Mori (196 KM)
Today an early wakeup call will be set for all of you as we will be set to ride out of the foothills of Dehradun, and venture into the high mountains towards Chakrata, which is a quaint beautiful cantonment area of Dehradun district. The entire journey will pass through beautiful mountain roads with the stupendous views of undulating ridgelines of the Great Himalayas for backdrop. As we reach Chakrata, we halt for lunch and soak in the beauty of the green valley. The area is covered with thick conifer forests replete with rhododendrons, and lies between Yamuna and Tons Rivers. After lunch we ride down the hill towards another small rustic village called Mori which will be our destination for the night.

Day 03: Mori to Harsil (150 KM)
On day three of our Ganga Motorbike Expedition, we depart early in the morning from Mori after a heavy breakfast. We have to ensure today that we reach Harsil before the sun sets. We will be riding up snaky mountain roads till Sukhi Top which is a fertile area famous for Rajmah cultivation and apple orchards. On a clear day one can get clear view of the green meadows of Dayara Bugyal and the Himalayan Ranges. After spending some time there, we steadily descend down into the charming little hamlet of Harsil situated at the banks of the Bhagirathi River. We will be spending couple of nights here.

Day 04: Harsil to Gangotri Temple and Back (50 KM)
Today we have a relaxed day as we do not have a long distance to cover. We will enjoy a leisurely breakfast and then depart for a ride to Gangotri Temple situated at an elevation of 10499 feet. It is one of the 4 sites of the famous Char Dhaam pilgrimage circuit. Goddess Ganga is worshipped here. We come back to Harsil around lunch time and spend the rest of the day at leisure. Feel free to go exploring the town on your own. One can spot various Himalayan birds here and can venture out to the nearby village to witness local life and culture.

Day 05: Harsil to New Tehri (189 KM)
After an early breakfast, we depart from Harsil, coming down into Uttarkashi and continuing on towards the Tehri Dam. The old village of Tehri remains submerged in water of the reservoir, which was created once the dam came up, but the remnants of some of the landmarks of the village can still be seen when the water levels are low.

Arrive in New Tehri by evening and check into the hotel for an overnight stay.

Day 6: New Tehri to Rattapani, Rishikesh (90 KM)
We depart after breakfast and travel on the Chamba-New Tehri Road, and then taking the NH-94 till we reach the Neelkanth Road. The resort where we would be staying is about 15 KM from the turn.

Arrive in Rattapani in 4-5 hours with ample amount of breaks, and check into the resort for some rest and a hot meal! We can go for a nature walk close to a waterfall, post check-in.

Day 7: Rishikesh to Onward destinations
After a rafting session in the morning, return to the resort in time for breakfast. Our Ganga Motorbike Expedition ends as we check out and depart for your onward journeys.
