If you are planning some adventure in the mountains in the near future, then opting for Har ki Doon trek can be a great choice. A part of the Garhwal Himalayas, this place is a must visit for nature enthusiasts and adventure seekers. It lies closer to the border between Uttarakhand and Himachal Pradesh. This trek is considered an easy one and thus is recommended for first timers. However, a lot of excitement can be experienced on this trail that starts from the picturesque village of Sankri. From here, trekkers move towards another scenic village – Taluka, which is technically the starting point of this trekking adventure.
After admiring the scenic landscape of Taluka and staying here overnight, the following day the journey moves towards Osla, which is famous for rich vegetation with Himalayan peaks in the background. Next day, the group proceeds towards the foothills of Fateh Parvat, the location of Har ki Doon. Enjoy the scenic vistas of this place and click pictures of the untouched natural beauty.
The next destination on the trip is Jaundhar Glacier, which is known for its lush greenery and snow-capped mountains. On the following two days, descend back to Osla and Sankri. On the trek from Osla to Sankri, witness the exotic flora and fauna of the Govind Wildlife Sanctuary. The last day’s plan is the drive from Sankri to Dehradun, from where you proceed for your onward destination.
The Har ki Doon trek gives an opportunity to adventure enthusiasts to witness and admire the beauty of the Himalayan region, which since centuries has been a popular retreat for travellers from across the globe.
Day 01: DEHRADUN - SANKRI (2000M) (DRIVE / 200 KMS / 6 - 7 HRS)
Upon arrival at Dehradun Railway Station in the morning, drive towards Sankri – a beautiful village that lies in the district of Uttarkashi, about 162 km from Dehradun. This village serves as the gateway to the Har ki Doon, and it lies at an altitude of around 1950 metres above sea level. The village is located around 13 km inside the Govind Wildlife Sanctuary. Situated close by is Sond village, which serves as the base camp for Kedarnath trek.
The drive from Dehradun to Sankri will take approximately 10-11 hours. Stay overnight at the GIO camp in Sankri.
Day 02: SANKRI (2000M) - TALUKA - SEEMA (2560M) (DRIVE / 30 MINS) (TREK / 4 - 5 HRS )
After breakfast, proceed towards Taluka village, which is the starting point of the the trek. The trek from here is not difficult and en route, you will see a lot of uninhabited villages. Taluka is famous for the wide variety of flowers grown here. Today, the trekking expedition will proceed towards Seema, a local market. A little ahead of Seema, in the beautiful fields along side the Supin river is where we shall camp. Overnight stay in tents.
Day 03: SEEMA (2560M) - HAR-KI-DUN (3566M) (TREK / 6 - 7 HRS)
Today after breakfast, we cross over to the other side of the Supin river and catch a delightful sight of two peaks, namely Bandarpoonch and Swargarohini. The route to Ruinsara valley is filled with expansive meadows and jungles. We can explore the wide variety of flora and fauna harboured in these jungles. There's also a waterfall and a few rivulets for it make even more exhilarating. If we move at a leisurely pace while taking in all the beauty the journey has to offer, we will easily reach Har Ki Dun in about 5-6 hours.
Har Ki Dun is a treat to behold. Upon reaching, one can explore the paradisiacal Har Ki Dun which houses an extensive variety of flowers along with a network of streams. There's also a healthy spread of mountains of different sizes all over. Overnight stay tents.
Day 04: CAMP NEAR KALKATTI DHAR - HAR KI DUN (EXPLORATION TO HATA VALLEY) (TREK / 3 - 4 HRS) ( 2 - 3 HRS OF EXPLORATION)
After breakfast, a beautiful view awaits you as you reach Hata Valley. Trek to Hata Valley to spend a while their admiring the gorgeous meadows. In the afternoon, head back to Har Ki Doon. Overnight stay in tents.
Day 05: HAR KI DUN - SEEMA( TREK / 3.5 - 4.5 HRS)
Rise up to a beautiful morning in Har Ki Doon. After breakfast, you can either trek to Hata Valley or you can stay back relaxing in Har Ki Dun until afternoon. Post lunch, start trekking from Har ki Doon to Seema. If we reach Seema early, we can go to a neaby temple in the village of Osla to visit and interact with the locals. Overnight in tents.
Day 06: SEEMA - TALUKA - SANKRI ( DRIVE/ 40 MINS) (TREK / 3- 4 HRS)
Today, descend from Seema to Sankri and on the way back, enjoy views of the fauna and flora of the region. Click pictures of the amazing view of the surrounding environs. You can also indulge yourself for a bath in the cold water streams on our way. Overnight stay in tents.
Day 07: SANKRI - DEHRADUN (DRIVE / 200 KMS / 6 - 7 HRS)
In the morning, embark on a journey towards Dehradun Railway Station to reach by afternoon, from where you will continue your onward trip.

It was great fun and exciting, made some good friends and experienced some amazing views The entire crew was great and well organized, especially the catering staff with their wonderful meals. Just want to mention that we couldn't make it to the Glacier, we walked almost 3/4 of the way and had to come back!
