Itinerary:
Day 01: Arrival in Guwahati | Guwahati to Kaziranga National Park (approx. 195 km | 3.5 hours)
On arrival at Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport in Guwahati, transfer to Kaziranga National Park. Upon reaching the site, move to the resort and enjoy an overnight stay.
Day 02: Wildlife Safari | Kaziranga National Park to Shillong (approx. 255 km | 4.75 hours)
Post breakfast, head out for a Jeep safari to explore the amazing wildlife of the jungle. Situated on the banks of the Brahmaputra River, this protected territory is spread over an area of around 858 sq km in Assam. This UNESCO World Heritage Site is one of the best places in India to capture the sights of one-horned rhinoceros and tigers.
Apart from these, the establishment is also home to Asian elephants, swamp deer and hoolock gibbons. Thereafter, return to the hotel for some leisure time. After checking-out, board your vehicles and drive to Shillong. On reaching here, move to the hotel for a peaceful sleep.
Day 03: Shillong to Cherrapunjee | Trekking to Living Root Bridge
After an appetising breakfast, check-out and travel to Cherrapunjee. Also called Sohra, Cherrapunjee was established in the year 1982 as a sub-division of the East Khasi Hills district. It is one of the wettest places on earth and holds the record for the highest annual rainfall of 24555 mm. On arrival at the resort in Cherrapunjee, rest for a while and then set out to explore the nearby forests.
The forests of Meghalaya are well known all over the world for housing living root bridges. Trekking downhill through Sohsarat village and passing through some steep stretches, reach one such structure. These astonishing things are truly a sight to capture, and over time they have become one of the most sought-after aspects of tourism in Meghalaya. Later, hike back to the resort and relax for some time. In the evening, enjoy an entertaining musical performance by locals and then an overnight stay.
Day 04: Cherrapunjee – Mawlynnong – Shillong (approx. 100 km | 3 hours)
Post breakfast, this Kaziranga Shillong and Cherrapunjee road trip takes you to Mawlynnong. After being crowned as the cleanest village in Asia, Mawlynnong quickly gained fame and is now one of the biggest attractions in Meghalaya. Just one sight of the village is enough to leave anyone spellbound. The place is dotted with lush gardens and sets an example for other villages with a superb literacy rate.
Strolling through the streets of the village, admire its beauty and serenity. Later, continue the Kaziranga Shillong and Cherrapunjee Jeep safari tour to Shilling for an overnight stay.
Day 05: Shillong to Guwahati (approx. 100 km | 2.5 hours) | Departure from Guwahati
After a healthy breakfast, check-out and drive to Guwahati. On reaching here, head to Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport and disperse.
