Winter Kuari trek is one of the most beautiful winter trek that perfectly capture the grandeur of the snow-landscape. Settled at an altitude of 4264 meters, Kuari Pass boasts of amphitheatre views of Kamet (7756m), Trishul (7120m), Chaukhamba (7128m), and the great divine peak of Nanda Devi (7817m) and its twin Nanda Devi East (7434m). The mountain pass is located in the Garhwal region of the state of Uttarakhand. It lies to the south of the Tibetan Plateau, and is within the enchanting Nanda Devi National Park. Well-known as the Lord Curzon trail, Kuari Pass Trek gives you a chance to view the impressive blue-skyline donned with white landscape.

The trek will start from Joshimath, and will proceed to Akhod Getta which will be your first campsite. The charismatic view of the snow-dressed mountain, Mt. Chaukhamba will be seen from the base camp. Moving on to the goal destination, the trail of Kuari Pass will have great patches of snow and the blowing winds will make the trek even more exhilarating. After walking past snow-covers, you will reach the peak point of Kuari Pass that will offer spectacular views of Dronagri, Hathi Parvat, and Gori Parvat. The trek isn’t over, as your next destination goal will be the fascinating Auli. The track to reach Auli is laden with dense forests that houses great diversity of flora and fauna, and vast pasturelands. The stupendous views of Auli Himalayan peaks, Nanda Devi, Hathi Ghodi peak and Dronagiri will make your heart drool with its beauty.

DETAILED ITINERARY:
Day 1: Drive from Haridwar – Joshimath (260 km)​

After arriving in Haridwar, you will drive to Joshimath, a religious city for people going to Badrinath and Hemkund Sahib. The drive will take around 10 hours covering a distance of 260km for you to reach. On reaching, you will check-in at your pre-booked hotel.

 

Day 2: Drive from Joshimath to Dhak Village (10 Kms) - Trek from Dhak to Akhod getha (6Kms)​

Today morning you will embark your journey for Kuari Pass trek. At first you will have to drive to Dhak village, from where you will walk and snake through beautiful rhododendron, oak and hemlock forest. After walking for a while, you will descent to a grassland which will also be your campsite at Akhod Getha. The magnetizing view of the snow-dressed mountain, Chaukhamba can be seen from your campsite. You will also come across shepherds living here who come down during harsh winters. Strike a conversation with a local, and you will get to hear numerous stories about the place. You will also find a spring line at the crown of the meadow for unlimited water supply. Take pictures of the sweeping mountains, sit at the edge gazing the beauty of nature or take pleasure in the company of your friends midst the beautiful landscape.

 

Day 3: Trek from Akhod Getha to Kuari Pass to Akhod Getha (10 kms)​

As soon as the morning unfolds, you will set out to continue your trek to Kuari Pass. Post breakfast, your trek leader will give you tips and tricks about the following trek, listen carefully and abide by it throughout the trek. You will trek for 5km, however, in between you will take breaks as the trail today will be quite steep. A trek will ascend till Khullara, from where you will encounter great patches of snow. After walking past the snow covers, you will reach the Kuari top. The winds won’t stop whispering, while you will take in the sweeping vistas of the mighty Himalayas. After clicking pictures of Mt. Nanda Devi, you decent back to the campsite, Akhod Getha and relish your hot dinner at night, post which you spend time with your friends or rejuvenate yourself midst the nature.
  

 

Day 04: Trek from Akhod Getha to Gulling (5 Kms)​

Wake up to the beautiful sunrise, and head-out for the next campsite, Gulling. Leaving behind the vistas of Mt. Chaukhamba, you will see Dronagri, Hathi Parvat, and Gori Parvat when you reach the next base camp. On arriving at the campsite, you can relax in your tent or can choose to indulge in various activities. At night, you will be served with tantalizing dinner, post which you either sleep or spend time with your friends.

 

Day 05: Trek from Gulling to Auli via Gorson Bugyal (08 Kms) - Drive to Joshimath form Auli (15kms)​

After savouring your breakfast midst natural surroundings, today you will trek to Auli. The magnificent views of Auli will spell-bind you with its splendour. The trail to Auli will meander through dense forests and vast pasturelands. While trekking you will outstanding views of Himalayan peaks, Nanda Devi, Hathi Ghodi peak and Dronagiri. On the way, click pictures of the ravishing valleys, villages till you reach the lush grassland of Gorson. Cross the grasslands, and continue walking till your reach the verdant meadows of Auli. On reaching Auli, you will be served with hot lunch, after relishing the food, you will take your belongings and drive back to Joshimath

 

Day 06: Joshimath to Haridwar

Today is the last day of your trip, as after having breakfast, you will drive back to Haridwar taking along ample of memories. You can indulge in evening Aarti at Harki Pauri if you arrive in time. Later, you can spend the rest of the time at your leisure.
