When translated, Sattal literally means Seven Lakes. At an altitude of 1,370 meters and surrounded with oak and pine trees, this place is ideal for a weekend getaway and activities like trekking and hikes. It is a beautiful and picturesque freshwater biome, located in the Nainital District of Uttarakhand. Sattal is considered a heaven for migratory birds, such as kingfishers, red-billed blue magpie, plum headed parakeet, jungle owlet and fish eagles among others. The seven interconnected fresh water lakes or Tals that give this place its name are Panna, Nal Damyanti, Purna, Sita, Ram, Laxman and Sukha. You can visit this place for trekking, nature trails and birding.
Itinerary:
Day 1: Arrival. Lunch. Boat ride on Sattal Lake. Bonfire. Dinner and overnight stay at the resort.
Day 2: Breakfast. 6 km trek to Surya Gaon with packed lunch. Post lunch trek to Subhas Dhara (waterfall). Bonfire at resort. Dinner and overnight stay at resort.
Day 3: Early morning 2 km trek to Sattal Lake. Back to resort for breakfast. check out.
Optional Activities: Boating, Kayaking, Trekking, Visit to the butterfly museum, Rappelling, Swimming, River Crossing, Birding, Nature Walk.
