Day 1: Arrive in Guwahati; Drive in Kaziranga National Park
After picking you up from the airport, you will be transfer to your homestay. Enroute you will pass through the eclectic beauty of Assam taking in the marvelous spectacle of nature. On the way, you will also have lunch to boost the energy. Later, you will enter the mystic region of the national park, where the crisp air will entice you and cool you off if you are coming from a hotter territory. Relax for a while when you reach your stay.
Day 2: Wildlife Safari, Drive to Kohima (70 km drive | 3-4 hours)
Today morning, you will take the wildlife safari of Kaziranga National Park. You will leave at 7 am for the safari to see wildlife animals. There are better chances to spot animals in the monring than in the evening. The jeep will take you around the park, be ready with camera to click amazing shots for your instagram feed. Afterwards you will begin the drive to Kohima, where you will be delighted to see the buzzing markets and local sightseeing points. The drive will keep you hooked with the enchanting beauty of Nagaland. On reaching, you can head-out to explore the town, whereas at night you stay in a homestay located close to the Hornbill festival venue.
Day 3: Enjoy the Hornbill festival (2 km car | 10 min)
As soon as the morning unfolds, after breakfast head-out to the festival. You will leave by 10 am in the morning. The following events of the day will be shared to you by the leader. Dance your way, take in the festive vibes, and immerse yourself into the music. Interact with people and enjoy the cultural bliss you will encounter in this festival. Interact with the indigenous tribes which are 16 in count. Talk to them, try to know their color or learn few words of their language. It will be a great experience to know people who are far away from the modern world and believe their tribe is sacred. You can also indulge with the locals to taste rice beer, or see handcraft things made by the locals. In the evening, you can go to the campsite nestled within the festival premises.
Day 4: Exploration at Hornbill festival (2 km car | 10 min)
In the morning, after a scrumptious meal of breakfast, you will continue the trip to experience the balance journey at the grounds. You will explore the households of the locals, trying the local cuisine and the most famous chili Bhut Jolokia. Relax at the same campsite, enjoy with your friends, share your travel stories and prepare for the new adventure the next morning. Today will be your last night here.
Day 5: Trek to Dzokou Valley (25 km car | 6 km trek | 1 hour car | 3-4 hours trek)
As soon as the sun gilds over the skies, post breakfast you will begin the trek as a trip to Nagaland is incomplete without a trek. The enchanting valley will take your breath away with its beauty as you will find abundance of greenery after a one hour steep climb. The greenery is so much that you won’t get tired from clicking pictures of the sceneries. Also, the night can get pretty cold, so carry warm clothes. Overnight stay in Dzokou dormitory.
Day 6: Exploration of Dzokou Valley | Back to Kohima for Night Carnival (25 km car |1 hour car |6 km trek | 3-4 hours trek)
Your day will embark with a trek downhill to the valley, where you will be delighted to see and picture small frozen streams wrapped in greenery all around. Take a stroll of small caves and rocks, click pictures and then proceed for the return journey to Kohima. On reaching, you will notice a scenario of vibrancy and flamboyance. You will love the festival colors all emerging from every corner. Explore the stalls, little shops, and indulge in street food. Later, have an overnight in a homestay.
Day 7: Kohima – Dimapur | Return Journey (74 km | 4 hours)
Today you will begin to wrap up your belongings and proceed for return journey. Post breakfast, you will begin the drive to Dimapur railway station, from where you will board the overnight train to Guwahati. Also, people who are interested to attend the International Rock Music Festival can stay back to enjoy the music.
