Situated in the foothills of the Bhutanese Himalayas, Manas National Park is one of the most beautiful National Parks in India for its pristine wild habitat. Manas National Park Wildlife tour is an offbeat trip in Assam. The park derives its name from the river Manas which is emerging from the royal kingdom of Bhutan and is named after the serpent Goddess Manasa. Located in the foothills of Himalayas, Manas National Park obtained the status of a UNESCO Natural World Heritage Site in 1985. It is a designated Tiger Reserve, Elephant Reserve and a Biosphere Reserve of the state of Assam. The Manas Wildlife Sanctuary provides habitat for 22 of India’s most endangered species of mammals. It will be a magical experience for you to silently sway through thick jungle of grassland listening to the sound of elephant steps to symphony of birdsongs and jungle sounds.

The park is majorly known for its rich diversity and preservation of rare endangered and endemic wildlife such as the Assam roofed turtle, hispid hare, golden langur and pygmy hog. One can also spot a wide population of the wild water buffalo here. It is also home to various indigenous and migratory birds. Birds that can be easily spotted here are pheasants, Giant Hornbills, Jungle fowl, Scarlet Minivet, partridge, Florian and various water birds.  Manas National Park has exceptional importance within the Indian sub-continent’s protected areas, as one of the most significant remaining natural areas in the region, where sizeable populations of a large number of threatened species continue to survive.
