Covering two important districts of the state – Balaghat and Mandla – it spans over 110 km sq in area.

It is said that the wildlife hotspot is recognised as the land of roaring tigers not only in India, but in entire Asia. The local people of the area lend their hands to make this place a nice home for animals. Excursions can be availed on vehicles or on the backs of elephants. Although expeditions in the woods are prohibited during the night, animal sightings in the afternoons make up for the loss. Compared to elephants, Jeep safaris are safer and better, but not in swampy areas.

The different types of species that you may encounter in this national park are twelve-horned deer, jackal, grey langur, monkey, guar, nilgai, porcupine, python, sloth bear, wild boar, mouse deer and sambar deer. It is also home to some exotic migratory and colourful birds including Indian rollers, bee-eaters, paradise flycatchers, egrets and outlandish hornbills.

Apart from seeing wild animals, you can enjoy the serenity on the banks of the Banjaar River, which will add a lot to your already wonderful experience. A weekly market is also held near Celebration Van Vilas Kanha on Wednesdays, where you can buy innumerable handmade products and food items. Local potters and woodcarvers display their artwork through various workshops, conducted by locals. Artisans primarily focus on the wildlife of the national park in their paintings.
